The Tampa, Florida, community is heartbroken over the tragic and untimely passing of Alex Byers, a beloved resident of Progress Village and proud alumnus of both Spoto High School and East Bay High School. Alex passed away on November 7, 2025, following a devastating car accident. His sudden departure has left an irreplaceable void in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Born and raised in Tampa, Alex was known for his genuine kindness, infectious smile, and ability to bring laughter to any room. Those who knew him best describe him as a bright light—someone who could lift others up simply by being himself. His compassion for others, combined with his easygoing nature, made him a cherished friend and confidant to many. Whether sharing a joke, lending a hand, or offering words of encouragement, Alex had a special way of making people feel seen, valued, and cared for.
A proud member of the Progress Village community, Alex maintained deep roots in his hometown. His friendships extended far beyond his school years, and he remained connected to many of his Spoto and East Bay classmates, continuing to inspire through his positivity and loyalty. Alex’s love for life, family, and friends was evident in everything he did, and his presence will be profoundly missed.
